Foundation athletes for Penn Relays

EIGHT GIRLS from Christ Church Foundation’s triumphant team at the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships and five boys will represent the school in its maiden campaign at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, United States this week.

The girls contingent includes CARIFTA Games’ Under-20 high jump gold medallist Ashantia Phillips and distance runner Elizabeth Williams, who won a silver and a bronze in the 1500 and 3000 metres, respectively.

They will be joined by CARIFTA teammates Tiana Bowen and Hannah Connell, as well as Rosette Hoyte, Cheyanne Cummins, Laneekwa Gibson and 14-year-old sprinter Jaliyah Denny. 

Rivaldo Leacock, who won a silver medal in the 400 metres hurdles in his first outing in the Under-20 division at CARIFTA, will lead the boys’ team, which also includes fellow CARIFTA athletes Josiah Atkins and Kevin Briggs.
