Zulu rebirth
VENTURING BACK to the early civilization of the Mayan people, Zulu International’s Apocalypto launched last week at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre to a sizeable audience.
Befitting of their theme of “rebirth” which is loosely based on the 2006 movie of the same name, the costumes launched on the dawn of a new day at exactly midnight on Saturday.
The sections – Mystic Energy, Mayan Temple, Jaguar Paw, Cryptic Sun, Zulu, Flint Sky and Zero Wolf – were all designed by Trinidadian Valmiki, who took the concept of rebirth and went wild with the designs, making sure all of them were equally as bold and colourful.
Under new management, Zulu International promised the same level of excellence and good, clean fun.
Rosé Hategekimama, liaison for Zulu International, said: “As usual Zulu is a fun band, great service as usual . . . and that is what we stand by,” she said. (SM)
