BARBADOS is going for gold.

The culinary team to Taste Of The Caribbean in Miami next month is in intense preparation fine-tuning their dishes which they are hoping will wow judges.

With Barbados celebrating its 50th anniversary of Independence, team members say a win in the US city would be the icing on the cake.

The chefs and team managers have been chopping, dicing, slicing and sauteeing ingredients to come up with dishes indigenous to Barbados.

Team manager Henderson Butcher said the competition from the Caribbean is strong with teams from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, and the US Virgin Islands among others competing against Barbados. (NS)
