THE BOND will be ready for something all right. Just not basketball.
The Co-operators General Insurance Premier League doesn’t look like it will resume tonight, not at Kensington Oval’s warehouse anyway, as the indoor court appears to be more suited for lawn tennis than basketball right now.
Acting Basketball Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) president Charles Griffith said he was given an assurance that the facility would be ready to stage games from today, once the rings were moved over from the now closed Wildey Gym.
But the only thing that was down on the floor up to press time yesterday was an indoor tennis court with the sport’s respective markings adorning the blue matting.
An inside source close to the situation revealed that the court – the same one used to host Grand Slam champs Serena and Venus Williams and Victoria Azarenka in Barbados – was acquired from the organisers of the exhibition festival Tennis Pon De Rock. (JM)
