NEIL ARMSTRONG will drive a Ford Escort Mk11 in Sol Rally Barbados this year.

And it will be powered by a 330 horsepower (hp) 2.5-litre Millington Diamond Series II engine with tractive sequential gearbox and paddle shift and Rieger dampers, and promises to be a force with which to reckon in the ultra-competitive group, SuperModified 2 of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC).

The car was built by CA1 Sport, Cumbria, England, and Armstrong, who will have regular co-driver Barry Ward alongside, will have the added expertise of the company’s team boss Martin Wilkinson for the outing in Barbados from June 3 to 5, which will be preceded by Flow King-of-the-Hill a week earlier.

Wilkinson is no stranger to Barbados, having run Paul Bourne’s Ford Focus WRC07 in 2014, and is looking forward to being back  this year. (TT)
