Third major drug haul offshore

POLICE HAVE MADE yet another major drug bust off shore.

On Monday night, they netted cannabis with an estimated value of BDS $1.3 million.

According to the police, about 9:45 p.m., members of the Drug Squad, with assistance from the Barbados Coast Guard, intercepted a locally registered boat off the West Coast.

They seized 12 polythene bags and four packages of cannabis weighing just over 660 pounds.

Two men, a Barbadian and a Vincentian, are currently in custody assisting with the investigation.

It is the third major haul over the past four weeks.

On April 16, police seized 1 046 pounds of cannabis just off Carlisle Bay and a further 523.6 pounds off the north coast on April 28. (PR/SAT)
