FARMERS WILL SOON have a go-to place to learn new techniques.

Today at the Ministry of Agriculture in Graeme Hall, Christ Church, permanent secretary Esworth Reid revealed the start of a demonstration farm and training centre.

The site will showcase modern farming techniques. It will be fully outfitted later to inlcude two tilapia ponds and two types of aquaponic displays.

Reid said he hoped the facility would change the mentality of the country towards agriculture and help reshape the sector.

He pointed out that agriculture had gone from being a backbone of the economy to being a minor contributor to gross domestic product. (AD)
