SOME PROPRIETORS in Baxters Road, The City, worried about the brazen killing of one of their own, have called for greater police presence and improved lighting along “the street that never sleeps”.

“It’s a very tragic situation and it signals the urgent need for regular policing on the streets,” Pink Star restaurant manageress Penelope Mings told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday.

Her comments followed the gunning down of Colin’s Sports Bar and Lounge proprietor Colin Forde, who was robbed and shot several times at the entrance of his business on Tuesday night.

His death sent shock waves throughout the Baxters Road business community, particularly those whose operations continue into the wee hours of the morning.

Mings complained about the police’s lack of response. (TS)
