Be wary of demons in white, warns Agard
INDEPENDENT MP Dr Maria Agard has questioned the sincerity of the Opposition-backed no-confidence motion in a hard-hitting presentation in which she launched a thinly veiled attack on her former leader, Mia Mottley.
“What is the purpose of this exercise if the real charge is that the extent of your sin is bigger than the extent of mine?” questioned the Christ Church West representative, who was expelled from the Mottley-led Barbados Labour Party (BLP) months ago.
She said the motion represented the “rabid, unrelenting, hasty, self-serving, political opportunism that represents the DNA of the author of this document”.
The MP, who is before the courts challenging her expulsion from the BLP, delivered perhaps her most severe verbal blow when she closed her presentation by stating: “I am convinced in my spirit that in the realm of possibilities you can wake a sleeping giant if you have to but you could never sanctify a demon even if you dress it in white.” (WILLCOMM)
