Blackbirds fly over All Stars

UWI BLACKBIRDS flew to the top of Division 1 netball while Newbury All Stars pitched deeper into the cellar with the Barbados Netball Association action continued on Wednesday night at the Netball Stadium.

In a ridiculously one-sided match, the Blackbirds destroyed Newbury 59-27 to move to 3-0, and a maximum 15 points while Newbury 0-3 who failed to get a point in the game, firmly in the cellar, with two points.

Looking to give Kittitian Michelle Liburd a great send-off in her final match before the graduate returns to her homeland, the Blackbirds ignored annoying drizzles and at times a slippery court in a bid to score 60 goals.

That feat was almost realised before the clock and definitely not the opponents thwarted the effort. (KB)
