Ten finalists for Best Employers
TEN FINALISTS HAVE been chosen as the Barbados’ Best Employers (BBE) programme heads towards an exciting climax next month.
Organiser Caribbean Catalyst Inc. announced that out of an original group of 30 participants, several well known names drawn from the hotel/tourism, financial services, retail, insurance, and services sectors were now vying for awards in the small, medium and large categories of BBE.
The finalists in the small category are Bitt Inc., a financial technology company, client services firm, Blueprint Creative Inc., and retailer Harley-Davidson of the West Indies.
In the medium category, the finalists are brokerage company CGM Gallagher Insurance Brokers Barbados Limited, insurer Guardian General Insurance Limited, beachfront resort Ocean Two Resort and Residences, and retailer Duty Free Caribbean Limited (trading as Colombian Emeralds International).
Of the 30 companies that participated in BBE this year, nine were in banking/financial services, six in the retail sector, five in the hotel/tourism sector, two statutory corporations, four insurance companies, and the others from the services sector.
BBE is the brainchild of Caribbean Catalyst. It has been sponsored by The Nation Publishing Co from its inception in 2010. This year is the fourth time the biennial programme is being held.
Caribbean Catalyst managing director Rosalind Jackson told the SUNDAY SUN, “The participation rate in terms of numbers of companies is very similar to last time [in] 2014.
“The larger number of companies participated in the medium category but I think what is happening is that we are seeing…quite a bit of improvement in what people are feeling and thinking.”
She added, “We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s always a big undertaking for us but I think it’s always an exciting undertaking.”
The awards luncheon will be held on June 21 at Hilton Barbados. (SC)
