BHTA donates equipment to lifeguards
LIFEGUARDS ACROSS THE island have been handed a boost in their efforts to save lives.
This is thanks to the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) who earlier today donated approximately $20 000 in equipment to the guards.
Donating the equipment on behalf of the BHTA was chief executive officer Sue Springer who explained that they worked with the National Conservation Commission (NCC) to find out what was needed to ensure the safety of both tourists and nationals.
“I hope that the equipment that we have provided will be of assistance. This is approximately $ 20 000 worth of equipment that we have provided for the various lifeguard huts,” Springer said at the Browne’s Beach presentation.
Meanwhile, NCC general manager Keith Neblett thanked Springer and BHTA for their donation of the much needed equipment.
“We are very much thankful for the contribution from the BHTA. I think the $20 000 in equipment certainly will go a long way,” he said. (AD)
