THE WRITER OF THE LYRICS of Barbados’ National Anthem is looking to leave his mark on the local landscape with a brand new project.

Songwriter Irving Burgie made this announcement yesterday at a press launch for the #246Anthem initiative held at the Hilton Barbados Resort.

He recalled that he was a part of an off-Broadway production entitled Ballad for Bimshire and said, “I’ve since done some revisions of the show and I’m making a movie of it, which I hope to get it done in the next year so.

“It’s a movie that talks about Barbados coming of you age [and] it takes place around the 1930s in Barbados…” he added.

Burgie is scheduled to appear at the Eagle Hall Primary School today where students and teachers are expected to perform the anthem as a part of the Downes and Wilson-led #246Anthem initiative which seeks to make the singing of the anthem go viral.  (TSG)
