Cadogan still off Olympic pace

THE ROAD TO RIO hasn’t been a smooth one for one of Barbados’ best.

Pro sprinter Levi Cadogan is yet to punch his ticket to Brazil, having failed to automatically qualify for this year’s Olympic Games despite winning the men’s 100 metres at Saturday’s Austin Sealy Classic.

Running at the National Stadium, Cadogan got out to a good start and comfortably won the event, but his time of 10.31 seconds fell significantly short of the 10.16 qualifying mark.

“I knew it was going to be a hard task [to qualify in this race] but I am not complaining at all because when it comes time to run fast then I will run fast, so I’m not worrying about it,” said the 20-year-old Adidas-sponsored speedster.
