TORONTO – Veteran Barbadian jockey Patrick Husbands registered his first added-money triumph of the season when he carried hot favourite Conquest Enforcer to a dominant win in the CAN$150 000 Queenston Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.
Going seven furlongs in the day’s main feature, the pair fended off an early challenge from Songs and Laughter before sweeping through the final turn and cruising through the stretch unopposed, to reach the wire 7-3/4 lengths clear in a time of one minute, 23.73 seconds.
“With him, it’s all about talent. You can’t take anything away from a good horse. Only six weeks ago he worked his first three-eighths. He came into this race on pure talent,” Husbands said. (CMC)
