SANDALS BARBADOS is looking to provide more jobs for local professionals.

This aspiration was expressed by general manager Ferry Zievinger during the all-inclusive South Coast hotel’s inaugural Sandals Prestige Awards at Dover, Christ Church, on Saturday night.

The Sandals boss said it was always the hotel’s intention to attract locals to fill management positions.

“We are looking for the local person because for you to work in a country and for you to manage local people, who better? Why do you have to look for outside?” he said.

Zievinger said that two Barbadians were recently hired to fill the positions of chief engineer and spa manager, whose performances he praised, though he said that sometimes filling positions with local talent was not always possible. (TG)
