ONE DOWN. One to go.

Station Hill Cavaliers took a decisive lead in their first-round series after using a 24-7 second-half run to seal Sunday’s 77-64 Game 1 win over Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics in the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League basketball play-offs at the Barbados Community College.

Clinging to a 44-43 lead, the Cavs made an initial 11-4 run to close the third quarter following two free throws and a huge two-handed slam along the baseline from Corey Howard.

Darren Hunte threw in a timely triple before crafty point guard Anand Joseph-Thorne finished the period with a pair of telling dribble drives.

And they weren’t done just yet, as Jason Smith drilled a trey on the other side of the break just moments before Saeed Norville completed a big “and-one” dunk (63-42). (JM)
