WORLD BOSS Julian “Michael Jackson” White snapped a five-game losing streak, including four finals to world number one Mark “Venom” Griffith, to win the first battle of the Burger King Road Tennis Blast in the Sky Mall car park on Sunday night.

With both class players putting on an exhibition of thrilling plays, White surged from match point 18-20 to lock the scores up to 24 before squeezing out the win 26-24.

The victory was a tremendous relief for White, who had slipped in many finals to the relentless Griffith as well as for the hundreds who waited for the result, which occurred at 1:36 on Monday morning.

That climaxed over nine hours of pulsating tennis after 36 of the island’s best traded shots to whittle the fight down to those last two. (KB)
