Body confirmed to be that of missing man

POLICE HAVE CONFIRMED that the body found in a shallow grave at Bayfield, St Philip yesterday is that of missing man Michael Mapp.

The 42-year-old of Blades Hill in the same parish was reported missing on May 23. Family members said they had not seen him since May 18.

Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday relatives searching for Mapp discovered the grave in a canefield and summoned police.

The body was in a state of decomposition and police are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Police are treating the death as unnatural. (PR/NB)
