DPP awaiting word from Town Planning
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS (DPP) Charles Leacock is awaiting further communication from the Town Planning Department regarding the refusal of Rock Hard Cement’s management to comply with an enforcement order at the Flour Mill, Spring Garden site.
“We’re awaiting additional information and we have also requested certain information to clarify some issues,” Leacock told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday.
Construction businessman Mark Maloney has indicated he was standing his ground on the erection of a concrete building for his cement companyat Lots 3 and 7, which he has leased from owners, Barbados Port Authority.
He acknowledged receipt of the Town Planning’s directive to stop construction and remove the structure, but said there had been no reply from the department following an application to retain and complete the building.
Chief Town Planner Mark Cummins has reportedly referred the matter to the DPP for possible prosecution of a criminal case against the management of Rock Hard Cement.(TS)
