NUPW showdown
TODAY THE FATE of the 8 000-strong National Union of Public Workers’ (NUPW) leadership will be decided.
A special general conference will consider a motion that all confidence has been lost in its president, Akanni McDowall – a year into his presidency.
Yesterday, the 35-year-old health promotions officer, who was elected in April last year, said he was unsure whether he would take a lawyer to today’s 5 p.m. meeting at union headquarters, Dalkeith, St Michael.
“I don’t know yet. I want to concentrate on tomorrow and having it being over and done with,” McDowall told the DAILY NATION last night in relation to having counsel.
