FOR THE FIRST time, the Everyday People NYC day-time party is coming to Barbados.

Yesterday over 40 “everyday people” touched on local shores to have a ball this weekend.

Though some of the young professionals have left their home base, some are still working from the sandy beaches of the Crane Resort, St Philip. They say they still intend to enjoy themselves over the next few days.

Everyday People is the brainchild of cofounders Saada, DJ Moma and celebrity chef Roble Ali and since 2012 it has been hosted by the likes entertainers such as Lion Babe, Janelle Monae, Jidenna and Erykah Badu in cities such Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and its home base in New York.

The creators described the event as a space known for bringing a diverse crowd, all fashionable creatives in their own respective fields.

“You can feel comfortable, everyone gets loose, there is no hierarchy, you don’t have to be a model to attend. Everybody is welcomed; you don’t have to have money to have a good time,” said Saada

“The music is amazing, people make love connections, I can count three babies that have happened because of Everyday People,” jokingly added Roble.

Things kick off this evening with a visit to Oistins and continue with a Nike+ Run Club-sponsored run on Crane Beach, a cruise with Jammin Catamaran Cruises and the flagship brunch party on Sunday at East Point Grill. (TG)
