WINGS burnt

THE CHICKEN WINGS importer mystery deepened over the weekend after authorities raided a property and destroyed several hundred pounds of wings.

And on Friday, Minister of Trade Donville Inniss is set to meet with the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS), which blew the whistle on the imports currently flooding the local market.

However, there is still no word on who went around the authorised importer, the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC), and sneaked in the chicken parts.

Chief executive officer of the BAS, James Paul, at a hastily convened press conference last Tuesday, raised the alarm, questioning the Ministry of Trade, the Customs Department and the Ministry of Agriculture as to how the wings slipped in without being tracked. (AC)
