MINISTER OF the Environment and Drainage Dr Denis Lowe is throwing his support behind staff at the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) as Barbadians cry out over garbage pile-ups islandwide.
Speaking on the sidelines of a presentation ceremony for the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts 2014 and 2015 Environment Awards at Warrens Tower Two office complex yesterday, Lowe said the workers should be praised for their efforts to rid the island of waste.
He also appealed to householders who were dumping indiscriminately to stop the habit.
“The public should stop throwing out green waste from lawn trimmings, trees [and the like]. People don’t like things around their house and they will throw them out. Sometimes one household has up to ten bags and that will be thrown out,” said Lowe. (MR)
