BUT not letting up on meeting Jones
THE BARBADOS UNION of Teachers (BUT) will continue to press for a meeting with the Ministry of Education to resolve the concerns of its members.
This is despite the cancellation of a planned meeting slated for last Wednesday at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic at 4 p.m.
The proposed meeting with senior officials of the ministry and the executive and stewards body of the union was to be held weeks after there was much public outcry from Minister of Education Ronald Jones, politicians and other strata of society at the apparent temerity of the union to demand a meeting with the minister by a specified date, or face industrial action.
Less than 24 hours after the notice of the meeting was made public, correspondence came from the union saying it was cancelled. (YB)
