CHILDREN FROM SEVERAL of the island’s secondary and primary schools got some timely tips about hurricanes during a symposium at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed this morning.

Resource personnel from the Department of Emergency Management, the Barbados Light & Power Company Limited and other stakeholders shared information on what they should expect if a hurricane or weather associated with it were to hit, and how they should respond.

One of the more important tips was what should go into the emergency “go bag”, which should always be packed and ready.

Items for the “go bag” include medication, first aid items, toiletries, change of clothes, non-perishable food, water, flashlight, radio and extra batteries.

The Hurricane Season got under way on June 1 and ends November 30. (YB)
