JOE MACLELLAN, the Canadian safety consultant who was accused of kicking a fellow employee at the Barbados Light & Power’s (BL&P) generating plant at Spring Garden, has called it quits, with the company revealing he no longer felt safe on the job.

Reports indicated that MacLellan didn’t waste any time after handing in his resignation, flying out late Monday, hours after giving up his employment in Barbados.

The MIDWEEK NATION has also obtained a copy of a memo which was written to all members of staff by BL&P’s director of shared services, Roger Babooram, explaining the Canadian’s reasons for leaving and the company’s position on the matter.

“As a result of the threatening and hateful sentiments directed to him during and after the Spring Garden work stoppage, Joe did not feel comfortable in his place of work,” Babooram wrote. (BA)
