ENOUGH TALK; we want action now.

This was the cry from irate residents in Robinson Close, St Stephen’s Hill, St Michael, on Saturday after a truck operator was reported by police for dumping in the adjacent quarry the day before. This occurred hours after two environmental health officers had visited the area.

The police were called after trucks were spotted dumping what appeared to be household garbage mixed with soil. And minutes after one truck dumped its load, a motorcycle cop pounced on its driver.

While the residents are pleased with the swift response of the police, they questioned how the trucks could get access to the area since its entrance was restricted by a locked chain across it. (SP)
