ROAD TENNIS fans would not have been surprised if an armoured truck escorted mother and daughter Kim Holder and Kyana Holder from the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Centre in Bush Hall to their home in St Judes on Saturday night.

Similarly, those fans would not be surprised if next year’s Public Workers Co-operative Credit Union Touch of Class Tournament gets a name change to Pure Class.

When the third edition climaxed in front of a big and appreciative crowd, Kim captured her third successive “A” Class title and $2 500 with an easy victory over Abigail Haynes (21-11, 21-15).

The night featured high-class tennis and more than 30 giveaways, as the presentations climaxed with one fan winning the use of a hired car for five days. All of the officials and tournament helpers were rewarded with gifts. (KB)
