Langer laments dead WI pitches

PITCHES in the Caribbean need to be resurrected from the dead.

This, according to Justin Langer, Australia’s stand-in coach for the just ended Ballr Cup Tri-Nation One-Day International series, will help with the revival of West Indies cricket while giving young fast bowlers a lifeline.

“The West Indies are a very exciting side. They won the T20 World Cup. They are so dangerous. They are like a boxer who’s got the big right hook and he could knock you out any time,” Langer told reporters Sunday following Australia’s 58-run victory over the Windies in the final.

“They got so much talent. We were in for a fight every time we played these guys [but] one thing I would like to see in West Indies cricket is more lively pitches. We had a lot of net bowlers in the last month and there is so much fast bowling talent here,” Langer said. (EZS)
