VETERAN HOTELIER Peter Odle has accused some of his colleagues of selfishness, saying property owners need to be far more cooperative.

Odle, the former president of the Caribbean Hotel Association and current chairman of the Mango Bay Group of Companies, said some appeared to be unwilling to work with others, while information sharing also seemed to be a problem.

“There are times that we have an overbooking situation. You know what I’m appalled at? The number of places I’ve picked up the phone and [called] to ask people to help and fellas would [not respond favourably],” he said.

“I would love to see among us in Barbados, even if you’re running similar properties, get two or three of us to come together and form a small marketing [relationship] and you’ll be amazed how much that will help because you’ll have that little bit extra to promote your product,” he said.
