Stiffy is Bashment Soca king

SHANE Stiffy ATKINSON drove away with a 2016 Kia Picanto as he was named the first-ever Bashment Soca king this morning.

Singing his popular song Tek off Something he warmed his way into the hearts of the thousands at Kensington Oval with a stellar performance.

He beat seven other acts: MoleRamases and Lady EssenceMarzville & Snap BrandyCoopa DanFarmer UbuScrillaLinskee.

There was no second or third place as it was a winner-takes-all competition. Along with the car, Stiffy won $6 000, a Sony stereo system, a trophy and a year’s free valet at Freekz Customz. 

Meanwhile, the Sweet Soca and Party Monarch finalists were announced around 4:55 a.m.

Doing battle on July 24 at Bushy Park in Sweet Soca will be AC, Biggie Irie, Joaquin, Marvay, Mikey, Mr Dale, Nikita and Peter Ram. Yannick Hooper is the reserve.

The Party Monarch finalists are Edwin, iWeb, Leadpipe and Saddis, Lil Rick, Mikey, Mr Dale, MR BLOOD and TC. King Bubba was named as the reserve. (TTY/NS)
