LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Revellers taking to the road for this year’s Foreday Morning Jam activities can parade the streets without having to look over their shoulders, with the installation of the first set of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras along the Spring Garden Highway.

Workmen confirmed yesterday the system they were setting up just outside Mount Gay Distilleries was part of a security measure for the upcoming street festival, and was one of a number that would be installed along the parade route.

When contacted, president of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders (BAM), and Foreday Morning bandleader Chetwin Stewart expressed jubilation at the news of the installed cameras, after pushing for increased security for years. (RA/NM)
