THE KIDS may have come of age quickly.
Barbados bounced off the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Under-16 basketball tournament in emphatic style, having rallied from a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit before upending the British Virgin Islands 64-61 in Guyana on Sunday.
Trailing 53-38 at the start of the period, the Bajans closed out their Group A tournament opener on a 26-8 run that featured a pair of go-ahead free throws and a triple from Rasheed Maynard.
It was the tale of two games for an inexperienced junior side that held BVI to just nine first-quarter points en route to a quick eight-point advantage (17-9).
But in the same token Barbados turned around and surrendered 25 points in the ensuing second as the BVI went ahead 34-31 at one point. Â (JM)
