THE NATIONAL ASSISTANCE BOARD (NAB) has finally rescued 76-year-old Harriet Codrington, of Massiah Street, St John, after pictures and videos circulated two months ago showing her in an emaciated state.

Chairman of the NAB, Senator David Durant, told the MIDWEEK NATION they were forced to move in because certain provisions which they had put in place with the old woman’s caretaker were not being followed.

“We went to the home today and found the old lady locked up in the house and home alone,” Durant explained, adding that they had to get police to assist them in gaining access.

He said Codrington, who was blind, was taken to the Geriatric Hospital “where she will receive 24-hour care and attention”. (MB)
