FOR THE FIRST TIME in over three years, officers of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) have received promotions.

Yesterday, 14 police officers from the 50-strong police band were promoted to the ranks of inspector, station sergeant and sergeant during a brief ceremony in the boardroom at the police force’s Roebuck Street headquarters.

In his address, Acting Commissioner Tyrone Griffith said that while it was unfortunate that officers in the wider force had been made to wait patiently for promotions, he was satisfied it had not had an adverse effect on the morale of officers.

“This is always a very happy moment in the lives of police officers who are being elevated. I must concede that in the wider force this is some three years that our members have not experienced such a happy moment,” he said. (RB)
