SIR GARRY SCORES: Finalists to clash Monday

THERE WILL BE NO local team in the final of this year’s Sir Garfield Sobers Schools’ International Cricket Competition.

Instead, Antigua Combined Schools and Oakville Cricket Academy will clash on Monday at Kensington Oval for the year’s title.

On Friday, Antigua Combined Schools edged local side BCL Juniors by nine runs to reach the final, while Oakville recorded a seven-wicket victory over Presentation College.

Several lower placings were also decided on that day.

Antigua Combined Schools 140 in 38.3 overs (Tyrone Williams 42, Joshua Thomas 19 not out, Tariq Benjamin 15, Kofi James 14; Javed Leacock 4-22, Shaquan Cave 2-17). BCL Juniors 131-9 in 40 overs (Sylvester Moore 33, Shakeel Turney 22, Demario Goodman 16, Zidane Harewood 15; Karima Gore 2-9, Zavy Benjamin 2-17). Antigua Combined Schools won by nine runs.


At Wayne Daniel: Presentation College 122 in 37.2 overs (Sheldon Seepersad 32 not out, Rupdeen Sookdeo 17, Shiva Ragobar 17, Darius Gopaul 16,  Vuroon Maharaj 14; William Thomas 2-18, Matthew Nandu 2-24, Marcus Nandu 2-29). Oakville Cricket Academy 123-3 (31.2 overs) (Sanjay Stanley 38 not out, Denniel Griffiths 28 not out, Mikayle Riley 25, Guaranshu Sharma 13, Ashtan Deosammy 12). Oakville Cricket Academy won by seven wickets. Match reduced to 38 overs.


At Isolation: Combermere School vs Foundation School. No play due to wet run ups.
