IT MAY BE a controversial issue but let’s discuss it.

With a “tiny” lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community already existing in Barbados’ schools, Minister of Education Ronald Jones says leaders of education should discuss how to handle the thorny question of homosexuality among students.

“In fact, I am beginning to see a small, very tiny emergence,” of LGBT students in schools, Jones told the DAILY NATION in New York.

“It is something we will have to discuss as a totality among school leaders. That’s because by law in Barbados [gay boys and girls] must be educated.

“I don’t support adult-children [sexual] relationships in any form. Children relationships are something that would have to be discussed but there can be no advantage taken in Barbados of anyone. Everybody has a right and that right must be expressed in their health, safety and protection,” Jones said. (TB)
