TWO MONTHS AFTER an investigation was launched into accusations of police brutality against Nazim Blackett, four officers are reportedly set to be charged.
WEEKEND NATION investigations have revealed that the leading investigative officer, Acting Superintendent Margaret Stephens, has completed her report and charges against the four – three males and one female – are expected to be laid shortly.
The news comes exactly one month after Acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith revealed that investigations into the alleged beating of Blackett were expected to be concluded “within a reasonable time”.
The island’s top cop had earlier warned that no form of brutality by police officers would be tolerated. He had also given the assurance that if any officer was found guilty of such conduct, they would be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. (RB)
