No wings on Pelican business

DESPITE REPEATED CRIES for help, Pelican Village has become a virtual ghost town, operators at the location are claiming.

Contending that they were in danger of losing their livelihoods, the owners are calling for a better marketing strategy from the relevant authorities to help drive business to the location.

However, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) Sonja Trotman – under whose responsibility Pelican Village falls – has insisted that while the organisation continues to implement several marketing initiatives to promote Pelican Village, it was high time business owners acted in their own interests.

When the WEEKEND NATION visited the one-time popular tourist attraction recently, it resembled a ghost town. (RB)
