Big demand for hired cars

BARBADOS’ TOURISM SECTOR is cashing in on the 2016 Crop Over Festival.

With just over a week left before the island’s biggest cultural festival climaxes with Grand Kadooment, some hotels and car rental agencies are experiencing an increased demand for services.

Former chief executive officer of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA), Sue Springer, said the usual influx of tourists for the season translates into high occupancy at local hotels, particularly during the last week in July and the first week in August. With the season already in full swing, she noted that some hotels had already seen increased bookings.

“Crop Over usually attracts a good number of people, especially from the region . . . . And definitely, the majority of our South Coast hotels have been doing well regarding reservations,” she said.
