THE SWEETHEART of local athletics is now the heartbreak of a nation.
SADA WILLIAMS’ Olympics dreams have become one hell of a nightmare, as the sprint sensation has been officially sidelined from the Rio Games after her right leg injury was diagnosed as a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
Barbados’ worst fears were finally realised when the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) confirmed her unfortunate withdrawal from the squad yesterday following Dr Llewellyn Harper’s initial diagnosis of a “Grade 1 right mid-substance strain of the right hamstring”.
Harper recommended Williams didn’t travel with the team as she was unlikely to recover in time before chief medical officer of the Barbados delegation, Dr Rene Best, supported Harper’s dire diagnosis. (JM)
