BLP calls on overseas Bajans for help
OPPOSITION MEMBERS have made a direct appeal to the Barbadian diaspora to help fight back against the effects of the termination of correspondent banking relations with institutions in Barbados and the region.
Saying that the issue is already hurting this and other economies in the region, Barbados Labour Party (BLP) representatives said those residing overseas need to speak through their votes.
“Part of what we’re going to have to engage you on is a level of representation via your own capacity that many of you now have to exercise, not just a voice to articulate problems, but even more significantly a vote to help demonstrate your concerns about what is happening in the place from which you came,” said Member of Parliament Kerrie Symmonds.
He was among opposition politicians addressing a special BLP People’s Assembly Wednesday night at Island Inn Hotel targeting the Barbadian diaspora. (WILLCOMM)
