EVERYTHING didn’t go to plan, but Lani Cabrera is still thrilled to be in Rio.

The Bajan endurance swimmer is enjoying every moment of the Olympics, having said she is treating the Games as a learning experience after failing to set a personal best in the 400 metres freestyle.

“Everything has just been phenomenal so far, so I am having a great time and I hope to continue having a great time in Rio,” said Cabrera in a televised interview on ESPN’s Olympic broadcast with former Jamaica swimmer Janelle Atkinson.

“I wanted to swim better but my time wasn’t nearly what I expected from myself. I’m still so thrilled for the opportunity to represent Barbados at the highest level of competition at the Olympics for the first time.

“For me, my results weren’t as great as I thought they would be, so it’s more of a learning experience,” she added. (JM)
