WITH an entire country cheering her every run and throw, Akela Jones has so far lived up to the hype and expectations in Rio.
The 21-year-old wondergirl is in medal contention after the first four rounds of high quality competition in the heptathlon at the 31st Olympiad in Brazil yesterday.
Jones showed her worth with solid displays in the 100 hurdles and high jump, and stayed in the hunt after the shot put and the 200 metres.
Today, she returns to continue her climb in the long jump, and attempt to finish strongly in the javelin and 800 metres. (MK).
