McDowall: Stop meddling

Instead, McDowell’s immediate predecessor, Walter Maloney, has been appointed to the panel, in what has been described as an unusual occurrence.

Attempts by the union executive to get Maloney to resign have failed so far, and the NUPW has written to the Ministry of Labour asking that the decision to appoint him be rescinded.

Maloney was sworn in by Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave last Wednesday. (MB)
