Bolt all the way
USAIN BOLT completed his third Olympic sprint double last night but came nowhere close to the world record he set out to achieve.
The iconic Jamaican sprinter was a comfortable winner of the men’s 200 metres, speeding to victory in a time of 19.78 seconds on a rainy night at the 31st Olympiad in Rio, Brazil.
As is customary, Bolt ran a magnificent curve and came off the bend as the undisputed leader looking to lower the world record 19.19 seconds he achieved at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.
Bolt powered down the homestretch to win without a challenge, but the disappointment was evident on his face when he crossed the line in the identical time he ran in the semi-finals on Wednesday night. (HG)
