Lashley backs sports circuit

BRING ON the Caribbean circuit.

Minister of Sports Stephen Lashley said he was very much in support of staging a track and field circuit in the region after seeing a need for Caribbean athletes to have consistent high level competition close by.

Lashley expressed the sentiment in a televised interview with Isa Guha during ESPN’s live Olympics broadcast from Rio.

“I think they have to get as much exposure as possible in as many circuits [so] we in the Caribbean are looking at bringing out more circuits and there is already one in Jamaica but I have been having some very interesting discussions with my Jamaican counterpart and we’re looking at very seriously having a Caribbean circuit,” said Lashley.
