MINISTER OF EDUCATION, Science, Technology and Innovation Ronald Jones is urging young people to use their knowledge and skills for good.
The minister said that there were many positive advances to come out of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) but he also said there was a dark side to the acedemic disciplines.
He said that he hoped to see a Barbadian come up with a fully fledged cure for HIV/AIDS or even cancer.
“Even as we work on our science and our technology and all of that good, we are also using it for evil, so we have to urge our young people as they work with the technology and the science as they develop more things through engineering as they work with maths . . . to unleash their talents [for good],” he said.
