DARIAN KING is moving on.
Barbados’ top ranked tennis player advanced out of the first round of qualifying at the US Open here in Flushing Medows after coming from a set down to beat former top 50 player Grega Zemla on Tuesday.
Playing in front a huge pro King crowd on court five, the Bajan ace battled back to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 against the former world no. 43 in two hours and 14 minutes of gruelling tennis action.
King actually squandered a two-break lead in the second set and a match point in the third before staving off two breaks while serving for the match.
The 24-year-old King, who will play his second round match on Thursday, needs just two more wins to make his first ever main draw of a Grand Slam.
